LAGO DI GARDA – LAKE GARDA
Lago di Garda is the biggest lake in Itay with its area of 370 km2. It’s located on the border between two regions, Lombardy and Veneto. You can arrive here from Milan by train, taking off at Desenzano del Garda/Sirmione station. However, the best way to visit the lake and its small villages is by car. Visit Sirmione, a Medieval small village inside the walls of an old castle. If you’d like to relax a bit, go to Terme di Sirmione, a spa right on the lake coast. If you prefer to hike instead, there are many trails you can choose from to enjoy the lake to its fullest.
LAGO MAGGIORE – LAKE MAGGIORE
Lago Maggiore is the second biggest lake in Italy. It’s very well connected by train from Milan and you can choose whichever village visit first. Como is a beautiful city on the lake coast plenty of shops and historical spots and you can also visit the tiny gorgeous villages nearby. LAGO D’ISEO – LAKE ISEO
Here at Lago d’Iseo, there is the biggest lake island in Italy: Monte Isola. Take a boat to visit the island and visit the village where 1800 people live. The lake is perfect for hiking excursions around the coast or to the top of the surrounding mountains. For the culture lovers, you can visit the gorgeous caste of Grumello, which dates back to the middle age. Even though this lake is not well-known abroad as the others, it’s really worth a visit here. The National Geographic said this is the “pearl of Italy’s lake district”.
