St Mark Cathedral, Venice, Italy

The cathedral is one of the most popular attractions in the city of Venice. Tourists from all over the world come to visit the lovely St Mark Cathedral. Its history dates back to as early as the 9th Century AD. Initially, the cathedral built beside the famous Doges’ Palace served as its chapel. It only became the city’s cathedral church in 1807. The interior of the basilica is decorated all-through with mosaics on the gold floor and several varieties of marble. The floors of this opulent cathedral glow with different colors. There is a screen that separates the nave and the choir. Here you can admire several marble statues. Pier Paolo Dalle Masegne and Jacobello have sculpted these delightful Venetian Gothic masterpieces.
